What is this creepy place? Snippet for #WeWriWa from Super Starrella #Superhero Romance

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets.
Today, I’ll continue the scene from my new release, Super Starrella. Estelle was knocked unconscious in an explosion, and when she woke, she was tied down in a strange place. Read last week’s snippet here: http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2016/03/estelle-wakes-snippet-for-wewriwa-from.html

Fighting off panic, she forced herself into a wary calm. Gradually, her vision cleared and memories crept back. She was Estelle Wright, seventeen years old, on her way to college.
Estelle stared up. Curved glass enclosed her body; above the transparent cylinder, glossy lines decorated the white ceiling. Her gaze traveled along the interleaved spiral paths; blinking, she wrenched her eyes away from the hypnotic patterns.
What was this creepy place? It was not a regular hospital.
Voices drifted to her ears from outside her room. They seemed to be discussing her.

If you really want to learn the truth, the eBook will be 99c for March, or you can PM me to request an ARC.

Starrella

Blurb
Teen superhero, Starrella, and her flying horse tackle villains in the skies of Atalanta.
The quiet summer before her freshman year turns frighteningly weird after Estelle Wright trespasses onto an Army base. Blown into the air and knocked unconscious, she wakes with a nascent superpower. Not to mention a winged horse with a snarky attitude and a mind of her own.
Back home in Atalanta, a serial killer is targeting the students at Goldman University. Before long she must juggle college classes with sneaking out of the house after dark to battle alien monsters. Estelle’s life is in danger, but who can she trust: handsome Captain Copper from military intelligence, or hunky Toby, the tough gangster with a motorbike? Both men have secret agendas, but falling in love is not in their plans.
Young adult superheroes, quirky animal sidekicks, and a dash of romance enliven this thrilling adventure. Book 1 of the Secret Supers.

  1. This doesn't sound like fun. I hope they are not going to do crazy experiment on her.

    1. This is not the first chapter, but maybe a reminder of how young she is.

    1. She doesn't panic easily - just as well since she will become a superhero.

  9. Hope she's not claustrophobic...doesn't sound like a fun place to wake up at all.

  10. Estelle's in trouble - little does she know how much she's gotten herself into by getting caught in the explosion!

  11. Good descriptive writing, Aurora. Easy to visualize. I hope she figures it out, and fast. Sounds like a bad place.
