Happy New Year!
Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets.
Since my WIP is still at a rough stage, I am still posting snippets from Gargoyle Hunt, Book 3 of Secret Supers.
Danger is the last thing on Estelle’s mind when she visits the University of Oxenford for a summer course. But, mysterious thefts and shadowy figures spur her into action. With Toby five thousand miles away, Estelle and her winged horse must hunt for the culprits alone. Soon they are embroiled in a mixed bag of aliens and ancient magic. Toby’s unexpected arrival throws her into turmoil and spurs events into a climax.
Last week (See http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2016/12/chill-snippet-from-gargoyle-hunt-for.html ), we learned Toby had a difficult day in London where he met Lord Winterbourne, head of the British Farleons. When Toby left the building, he discovered a short man was tailing him. So, this piece is in Toby’s POV.
Giving a mental shrug, he resolved to take the spy on a tedious walk through the busy city before shaking him off. Toby led his tail on a lengthy tour from Wessex House to the Thames and along the waterfront all the way to the Tower of London. After joining the tourists gawping at the dungeons and the crown jewels, he left the Tower in the middle of the afternoon. Marching from the river to the main streets, he dived into the dark entrance to the underground and jumped on the first train of the Circle Line. He got off at the next station, crossed the bridge to the platform on the opposite side and backtracked. Unluckily, his tail caught sight of him exiting the carriage. Stubborn guy!
Time to switch to a different tactic.

He is one hard tail to lose. I wonder what Toby will try next. An intriguing snippet! :)ReplyDelete
Good! I think Toby is having fun.Delete
I don't suppose this dude is just trying to see the sights of London?ReplyDelete
Why not? Toby is.Delete
I wonder if Toby's 'tail' has not realised he has been noticed. At least he got to see some sights.ReplyDelete
His tail is hard to shake. Funny, though that he made him visit all the tourist attractions. Maybe he should have taken him lingerie shopping just for fun. LOL.ReplyDelete
I don't think Toby is into lingerie shopping! And if he did, the assistants would swamp him! LOL.Delete
Nice cat and mouse play, Aurora. A determined shadow, that's for sure!ReplyDelete
Yes, with glimpses of London attractions.Delete
Hmmm, this spy knows what he's doing. And now Toby's actions have probably revealed that he knows he's being tailed.ReplyDelete
Right, but the tail is hanging in. You'll see why in the next few snippets.Delete
What a jaunt! Fun and games may get serious in this tag team.ReplyDelete
It will get serious.Delete
Definitely, a stubborn tail.ReplyDelete
She will have to be more creative, it seems.ReplyDelete
Of course. He wasn't trying very hard.Delete
The guy is good at his job, but Toby gave him his exercise for the day.ReplyDelete
Yes. Toby wanted to tour London.Delete
That's one way to see a city. :) :)ReplyDelete
Haha! Excellent point!Delete
The tail is persistent, I'll give him that. Wonder what the new tactic will be...ReplyDelete
Toby hasn't really tried to shake him, yet.Delete
Toby's certainly determined and smart! I enjoyed all the description of the sights in the snippet too...ReplyDelete
Thanks! It's going to get tricky.Delete
I wonder what he's being tailed for. I hope he can get creative on finding a way to shake him off.ReplyDelete
Probably because he had a meeting with Lord Winterbourne.Delete
Love the tour Toby's taking him on!ReplyDelete
Yes, I've seen the London sights.Delete
Wow! That tail is hard to lose! Interesting note to end, though. Makes me wonder what's next.ReplyDelete
Happy new year, Aurora!
