Celebrating the Five-Year Anniversary of My Career as an #Indie #Author

In the last five years, I have published a total of 14 full-length novels in four main series, 1 standalone novel, two novellas and a few short stories. These stories run the gamut from fantasy, science fantasy and superheroes to SciFi adventure and romance. It is still a struggle to find time to write because I have a family and a full-time job.

I write science fiction and fantasy adventures entwined with romances. You can find a list of my published stories HERE.

Each week, I’ll showcase a different series with discounted books.

My first novel, The Lady is Blue, a science fiction romance set on a distant Earth-like planet, was published at the end of April in 2014. This book became the first in a series called Atrapako on Eden. Coincidently, my most recently published novel, Trapped on Vkani, the third book in the series came out this March.

SciFi Romance. Feisty scientist solves puzzle of scaly aliens.

And Danika, who's so shy she seems to fade right into the background. Or does she actually become invisible?
And Eliza, who never lifts a finger--but is that because she lifts things with her mind?

Ecstatic, yet a little nervous to finally be a part of the world she'd dreamed of, Ellen is off to Imperium Academy.
But her classing doesn't go as expected.
Instead of joining the ranks of the illustrious Star Heroes, Ellen is regulated to the role of Sidekick, after all, night vision is barely a superpower.
Many have begun to question the need for Sidekicks, some teachers even suggesting they would be better suited to other employment.
But with Novaside getting bolder, and her latest attack hitting too close to home, Ellen is determined to stay at the academy and prove them wrong.
After all, where better to learn to be a hero than a school full of supers?

#NewRelease – The Monarch Mission Files: Conspiracy by @JennNixon #SciFi #Mystery #RomanticElements

CONSPIRACY - On Sale April 23rd 2019    #SciFi #Mystery #RomanticElements

Mari Yosoto has been keeping a dark and dangerous secret from everyone for the past three years. No one would believe her anyway, her ex-fiancé had seen to that. Instead of wallowing in misery, she stays busy, shuttling cargo to the Moon and back, enjoying the easy work and time alone. An old EarthCorps acquaintance asks for her help, and Mari can’t say no, even if it means working with the ex’s former best friend.

Although Trevor Nash took the missing person’s job to help his former commanding officer, deep down he needed to see Mari again. After trying and failing to find out what happened to her, Trevor makes the best of an odd situation, hoping he can remind Mari of their budding friendship and finally get some answers. When the mission goes sideways and they find the not-so-missing girl, a centuries-old conspiracy theory comes to light and the only thing more unfathomable is learning Mari’s secret.

Together with their newly formed ragtag team, Mari and Trevor team up and undertake a mission unlike anything either of them has faced before with life-altering and possibly deadly consequences.

Excerpt:
Nash was already saying ‘we’, a team building exercise everyone had taken in EarthCorps training. He lifted off the hover car's bumper, moving to the driver’s side and jutting his chin toward the passenger’s door. He was always a good, fair guy, much more so than his best frecking friend. “Happy to give you a lift home, get clothes and whatnot?”

“Nope, everything new. I have ten thousand K plus to spend. Take me to Walzon, they have what I need.” Mari shrugged, slipping into the other side of the very rounded off hover car, hating the trippy translucent paint. The aluminum they used made the vehicles less sturdy. She liked hard steel, which is why she enjoyed flying. Even the Personal Flying Vehicles were still made of metal, it was hard to trust anything less.

“Buckle’s auto, just lift—” Nash smirked, lifting his arm.

Mari gasped when the belt secured her against the seat, strapping down both her arms.
She shut her eyes.

Beep, beep, beep.

The seatbelt moved into place, freeing her right arm, which reached out and clamped onto the door handle.

“Mari?” Nash’s voice was soft, concerned. She knew why. She had three years to replay those moments in her head, listening to the voices in the surgical suite when she woke. He was there too, in the background with the ex, she remembered what they both had said.

After a deep breath, her grip went lax and she tucked her left arm over the belt before glancing over. “Ready when you are.”

Nash’s head tilted. “Mari. We’re gonna be in tight quarters for a week, regardless how fast this ship is. Can you do this?”

“It’s not claustrophobia.” Deep inside, Mari didn’t actually know if she still had the guts to do something like this again and when his gaze softened, she remembered something else Nash had said after she woke in the surgery suite. I hope she leaves your ass. It was the last thing she heard him say to the ex before she passed out from the pain. Her chuckle came out more tersely than she meant, so she shrugged. “We should probably find a Do-All-Stop and get a drink after we shop…if we’re working together, you need to know what you getting into. Well, most of it.”

Lively Steed - Snippet from TRAPPED for #WeWRiWa #SciFiRom

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Meet writers in various genres and read 8-10 sentence snippets of their stories. Find a new author and sample their work. Enjoy!

I’m continuing my new story, Trapped on Vkani, book 3 in my series Atrapako on Eden. You can read about the planets and their inhabitants in my Blog Post HERE.

While flying over the radioactive Deadlands, Maya’s shuttle crashes. She and two of her team have been captured by Sa Vittaran, a blue scaled alien.
The aliens have color-coded castes. Blue scales indicate a leader. Greens have technical skills, massively built Reds are laborers and warriors. Everyone else has Yellow scales.

The last line was: “Foreigners,” the Blue said cryptically. “Collect their weapons.”
I’ve skipped several lines to bring you to a lighter moment. Sa Vittaran has decided to leave the ruins before another sandstorm hits. Maya’s companions, Felix and Hong, have been strapped onto the beasts of burden and led away by the two Reds.
Please excuse my irregular punctuation to fit.

Sa Vittaran blew a small whistle; its shrill sound brought a new animal, a lively beast with glossy black scales, round amber eyes, and a puff of curly black hair on top of a narrow skull. Trotting on two muscular hind limbs, its long-necked head was balanced by a stout tail bearing another puff of hair on the end. It bore a leather halter and a saddle perched on its sloped back. Lowering its muzzle, it snorted at the Blue.
He caught hold of the halter and led the animal toward her. Before she had time to protest, he grasped her belt and tossed her onto the saddle. Instinctively, she slid astride, leaned over the animal’s neck and fumbled to grasp onto a leather strap.
Sa Vittaran leaped onto the animal and settled on the saddle behind her. “Do not fear,” he said, “my pekron will carry us swiftly out of the desolate lands.” He clasped her waist with one hand and tugged the reins to guide the animal away from the ruins.

Marooned on a desolate planet, joining forces with the enemy is their only hope.
Maya Pandita spent years preparing for an expedition to the Deadlands. But her dreams of unearthing ancient artifacts are shattered when her shuttle is buried by a violent sandstorm, and her team is abducted by the scaled inhabitants of the planet. Maya and her companions must try to outwit their blue captor and call for help before they die in the toxic atmosphere.
Sa Vittaran has a problem in his claws. Along with treasures from the ruins, he has retrieved three smooth-skinned foreigners. They will die if he leaves them in the desert. He cannot leave them to die in the desert. Yet the puny creatures have little value as workers, except perhaps for the impudent woman who claims to be their leader. Her knowledge of the ancient script will be an asset if she can survive the long trek to his house.
An attack by marauders forces Maya and the Blue leader into a wary alliance. They must work together to thwart the bandits and reunite their company. Can Maya convince Sa Vittaran to help her team? If she fails, they are doomed to a short unpleasant life on the desolate, war-torn planet.
