The Colors of Autumn are Purple and Gold

 


When I look at the native plants growing in rural Alabama, I find flowers in different shades of gold (yellow to orange) and purple. The header photo shows purple aster flowers. 

Most of the trees have green leaves, although some are starting to show the fall colors of brown, red and yellow. Orange butterflies, Gulf Fritillaries and Monarchs, are common.

Here are more pictures of the local wild flowers and fruit. The native persimmons (see bottom picture) can be eaten or cooked when ripe.
