I switched stories to give you a Halloween snippet from Grand Master’s Game and some viewers asked how she got rid of the slime. Last week’s snippet is here http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2015/10/halloween-snippet-for-sffsat-from-grand.html ending in “Where were you?” she demanded angrily.

“Distracted, my brave little pawn. There are scrawls like writing on the opposite side of the domes.”

She leaned against his firm chest, breathing in the spicy psi emissions. “I was trapped in the mouth of an enormous worm.”

“I see the damage you caused.” Looking down, she saw sinuous streaks in the desert floor left by the agonized writhing of the monster. Its body had vanished under the sands.

Athanor remarked casually, “Your shiny coating of slime does not appeal to me. The odor is repugnant.” 

Her irritation soothed by his embrace, Violet’s response was mild, “Could be worse. I could have slipped down its gullet. Dunk me in the river!” 

“I’ll do better.” Blue psi misted over her body and the slime vanished.

She voiced her approval of his technique, “Flashy cleanser.”

Today, I’ll continue the horrid wedding scene from my WIP, Grand Master’s Mate, Book 3 in the trilogy. Violet and her Grand Master, Athanor, are at her friend Tessa’s wedding when the Red Queen, Morrigu, drops in, explosively. Am I channeling Jedi knights here? A lady in a pink dress popped in to help save the wedding.

Her red figure whirled and dissipated. Just before she vanished, Athanor threw his dagger at her. The blade clattered to the floor, its tip stained in blood. He had scored a hit.

Muting his power, Athanor switched to his disguise as a precaution. He sagged into a chair, bowed his head in his hands and groaned, “She escaped. By the horn of Dagda, where in the voidal galaxy will she hide?” His mind blurred in exhaustion from the tremendous outflow of his energy. Violet placed her hand on his bare neck and emitted her empathy to recharge his psi power.

Escaped again? I’ll have to switch to something different next time.
