Welcome to another Sunday
with Weekend Writing Warriors.
Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences.
Join the fun and read our snippets.
I’ve been giving you a
glimpse into Estelle’s secret life as Super Starrella. Her winged mare,
Rockette, was rescued by a large cat, and Toby appeared, wearing a black mask and nanosuit. You can read last week’s snippet here: http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2016/06/what-does-it-mean-snippet-from-super.html
Glaring at him, she probed,
“Wait; how did you know my secret name?”
“Your mare told my cat.” He
looked behind her and she twisted around. Over in the shadows, Rockette and the
black jaguar faced each other. The winged mare tossed her mane and lowered her
nose, while the big cat rose on its haunches and lifted a large paw to tap the
horse in a friendly greeting.
“They’re getting acquainted,”
Toby said. “The jag cat is Growler.”
As if on cue, the black cat looked toward
them and its eyes flashed red. Toby stared at Growler for a second, and then
beckoned to Starrella. He barked, “Big attack on Centennial Square.”
This
is the last snippet I’ll give you from Super Starrella. The book is available if
you want to learn more about these characters. Teaser: Toby has more surprises
up to the last page! Next Sunday, I’ll
be visiting Snowdonia, Wales and probably will skip the snippet. Later, I
resume with Starrella Falls, Book 2 in the Secret Supers.

Sounds like they have a job to do. Great snippet and wonderful cover for the next book!
ReplyDeleteYes, they do. Thank you!
DeleteEnjoy your Welsh Adventure, Aurora.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed Starella and look forward to your sequel!
Thank you! We're looking forward to cooler weather, although probably wetter.

ReplyDeleteAw, love the way the animals greet each other. And it sounds like their communication is helpful too!
ReplyDeleteYes, they talk to each other and to their human (?) partners.
DeleteI like that the animals are characters too, not just pretty faces so to speak. Looking forward to excerpts from the next book!
ReplyDeleteYes, several animals are characters
DeleteGrowler! I love that name! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Deleteloved this one "“Your mare told my cat.” Nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteThe animals are fun to write.
Deletebahaha I love that the Jag cat is a growler! Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteYes. You will hear from Growler in book 2.
DeleteLooks like she's still not getting any answers -- and only on-the-job training.
ReplyDeleteNo time - superheroes have to rescue the people under attack!
DeleteLooks like big job in front of them.
ReplyDeleteIt's those 30 foot mantises!
Delete"Growler" is such a perfect name for him. Neat that you've made the animals into characters in their own right!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Wales! My brother and sister in law toured there a couple of years ago and they loved it. :-)
Thanks. Yes these two animals are definitely characters, especially Rockette.
DeleteI visit Wales most years since my brother lives near the border.
Looks like these two are going to be teaming up! I love how the animals are their own characters as well. And putting a mare with a big cat, two of my favorite animals, I love it.
ReplyDeleteNice cover for the second book in the series too! I like it!
Thank you!
DeleteWith all this talk of your trip, which of your superhero's companion will a whale?
ReplyDeleteA whale wouldn't work in Atlanta. I have dolphin-like animals in Grand Master's Mate.
DeleteGreat how the animals are all characters here! And you know how I am loving your kitty!
ReplyDeleteThe animal companions are a special feature of this series. But I don't think Growler would like to be called a kitty.
DeleteI love the cat's paw tapping the horse
ReplyDeleteI love writing about the animals in this series.
