Welcome to another Sunday
with Weekend Writing Warriors.
Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences.
Join the fun and read our snippets.
I
am continuing a scene from an older story, my space operetta, Captured by the
Hawk. This story is included in my latest release, Comet Tales.
Tag line: Spaceships
crash across the galaxy in the comic misadventures of spy Grey Kat and pirate
Black Hawk.
After stealing secret codes
from the Emperor's Revenge, Grey Kat was caught by Black Hawk’s
crewmen and taken onto his spaceship. Captain Hawk first sees her in her grimy
dock thief disguise. He is suspicious, but sends her to a surprisingly
luxurious cabin where she washes her dyed hair and dirty face, so she looks
very different when Black Hawk next sees her.

can read last week’s snippet here – http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2017/03/i-know-your-face-snippet-from-comet.html
The last line was: Black Hawk circled her again, insisting, “I know your
face.”
He
halted in front of her, staring at her face with narrowed eyes. She remained
motionless and silent, only her eyes sparked with insolence.
“Wait,”
he cried, with a confident glow in his green eyes, “I have it! You are Mistress
Trina Sligo, daughter of the Solarian diplomat.”
She
made a slight bow, and said, tilting up her chin with a mocking, regal air,
“You are correct, Captain Hawk. In this guise, I am Mistress Trina Sligo.”
“Amazing!”
he said appreciatively, shaking his head. “No one would ever guess that you
were the dock thief, Grey Kat.”
She
smiled thinly, wondering how long he would stare at her.
Comet Tales is an anthology of 4 short stories
and the novella, Captured by the Hawk.
Trudge over the rocks of Mars, trek through a
hazardous alien jungle, or pop across the galaxy in a pirate ship in five fun
tales of adventure and romance.

Now that he knows her true identity, I wonder what he'll do next. And nice new covers! :)
ReplyDeletePut her to work.
DeleteAnd thanks!
I wonder how this will change things between them. That's quite a change from a dock thief to the diplomat's daughter. :) Good snippet. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe's a spy and they're both on the same side.
DeleteSounds like a chance for ransom...
ReplyDeleteHe has other ideas.
DeleteSo now what? He's still staring at her ... interesting little snippet
ReplyDeleteHe must like what he sees!
DeleteStrange that she didn't try to deny it. I wonder what he is going to do next. He seems a bit smitten but it might also be dangerous.
ReplyDeleteShe's been in the high society gossip tabloids, so it's useless to deny her identity.
DeleteOh, I have a feeling he'll be staring at her a lot, with varying emotions LOL. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteOf course, and he does more than stare at times.
DeleteHe's seeing her in a new light. No wonder he's staring. lol
ReplyDeleteYes - she's clean and her hair is a glorious red.
DeleteHis delight, makes me wonder, Aurora. It can't be good for her!

ReplyDeleteYes, he is.
DeleteThanks. I love the new covers too.
"In this guise ..." I wonder if she has others besides the two he's just seen her in? Interesting!
ReplyDeleteYes, she does.
DeleteThe big reveal. How well will her secret be kept?
ReplyDeleteThis one isn't very secret. She's been in the celebrity gossip tabloids.
DeleteHe seems to be quite struck by her change in appearance.
ReplyDeleteShe cleans up well!
DeleteSo now he knows her secret.
ReplyDeleteOne of her secrets.
Deletethis seems like one of those stories where non one is whom they appear to be.
ReplyDeleteYes. Hawk's face is hidden behind a mask, but Katrina masquerades in the open/
