Future Supergirl Snippet for #WeWrWa

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets.
Here, as promised is a snippet from my forthcoming Book, Super Starrella, a Young Adult Superhero Romance. (I can’t keep my genres straight!) Seventeen year old Estelle’s quiet summer at her uncle’s farm becomes weird shortly after her second meeting with the hunky biker. Spotty is the horse she is riding.

One cool morning, Spotty was cantering along a straight stretch of lane and halted abruptly at the intersection with a broader gravel road.
The black motorbike leaned on a tree trunk at the side of the road. Clad in a sleeveless black shirt, Toby crouched on one knee and peered at the tires. Wary of the stranger, the mare snorted and pawed in the dirt. Wiping an oil stain from his cheek, Toby stood up and gazed at the horse and rider. His surly expression lightened, and he drawled, “Hey babe, ain’t seen you for days. You avoidin’ the city gangster?”
Smiling at his acute question, Estelle rolled her eyes and fluttered her lashes, “Hi Toby, I like it quiet.” He looked good, long legs, lean waist and broad chest with the cat tattoo stretched over his biceps.

Blurb
A quiet summer at her uncle’s farm turns into a weird nightmare when Estelle Wright rides into an explosion and acquires a superpower and a winged horse with a snarky attitude.
Back in her home city of Atalanta, a serial killer is targeting the students at Goldman University. Before long, the fledgling superhero must juggle college classes with sneaking out of the house after dark to battle vicious monsters. Estelle’s life is in danger, but who can she trust with her secret: handsome Captain Copper from military intelligence, or hunky Toby, the tough gangster with a motorbike?

Super Starrella will be published by March 1st.
Please contact me if you are interested in an ARC. Alternatively, the eBook will be priced initially at 99c as an early bird special.

As always, your comments are welcome. Please return to www.wewriwa.com to sample the works of the other writers.

  1. What's a girl to do? Biceps and a cat tattoo? She is in trouble, for sure ;-)

Of course it will become complicated.

  2. Congrats on the new release! This sounds like quite a change for you, though a very intriguing premise. Toby sounds hot, and like a lot of trouble, though a guy with a cat tattoo can't be all bad.

  3. Sounds like a bad boy, although a guy with a tattoo of a CAT can't be all bad.

    1. She has been avoiding the noise of the motorbike during her rides, so possibly he is trying a different tactic to meet her.

  6. This one already sounds like a lot of fun! Adding my congrats, and hoping you post more from this story. Isn't it energizing to write in a different genre? At least it is for me :-)

  7. He sounds SEXY. (um, he IS wearing jeans too though, yes? Not just a T shirt...LOL!) Loved the scene and the description of this guy. I could sure linger for some conversation with him. Best wishes on the release!
