Welcome
to another Saturday of Science Fiction & Fantasy and read snippets
exchanged by several writers. http://scififansat.blogspot.com/
I am continuing from my WIP, a superhero romance set in the fictional
city of Atalanta, a sunnier, southern version of Gotham City. You can read last
week’s snippet here: Today, we meet the heroine, seventeen year old Estelle. I’m
jumping over the start of her “boring” summer on her uncle’s farm to some
peculiar (more peculiar?) events.
In last week’s
snippet, Estelle’s horse was scared onto an army firing range. You can read it
here:
Estelle screamed. She yanked at
the rope looped round the mare’s neck without decreasing their breakneck speed.
She could only cling tightly to her terrified horse, hoping to avoid potholes.
The mare raced forward, straight
into a blaze of green fire. Light exploded around Estelle, white light threaded
with swirls of eerie green. Thunder boomed in her ears. Horse and rider flew
backwards.
Slamming onto the ground, pain
flooded her mind and Estelle lost consciousness.
Your comments are
welcome as always.
I've just read last week's snippet as well - methinks the cat spooked Estelle onto the firing range deliberately. But what kind of weapons generate green fire? Is this now a superhero powers testing ground?
ReplyDeleteGood idea, but not according to my story.
DeleteUnconscious on a firing range. Not a good place to be after being bucked off a horse. Let's hope they're not using mortars.
ReplyDeleteWait until she wakes up!
DeleteGoing from bad to worse here...hope she's okay in the end.
ReplyDeleteIt is a superhero romance and she is the heroine, so yes.
