Welcome to another Sunday
with Weekend Writing Warriors.
Writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join
the fun and read our snippets.
I’m
continuing the scene from: Starrella
Falls, Book 2 in the Secret Supers, until the end of this chapter. Then,
I’ll begin to post snippets from Book 3. You can read the first chapters of
Starrella Falls HERE.
Background: Estelle and Toby are superheroes and
their telepathic animal partners are Rockette, the flying mare, and Growler,
the jaguar.
Toby
knocks out the wanted murderer, Croaker, and Mark Copper offers to take Croaker
to the police station. Instead, Estelle and Toby discover Mark is driving
north, probably to Dupree Air Base.
You can
read last weeks’ snippet here: http://auroraspringer.blogspot.com/2016/09/destination-switched-snippet-from.html
The last line, spoken by Toby, was: “Copper wasn’t after the money. Reckon he’s taking
Croaker to the military jail.”
“Is that a problem?” Estelle
asked as they walked across the campus.
“Might be safer. Don’t know for
sure. Zarnoths are sneaky.”
“What about Rockette?”
“She’s to follow and make sure
Copper goes to Dupree.”
Estelle relayed Toby’s
instructions, and Rockette snorted, “Growler
already told me.”
Toby lengthened his stride until
Estelle had to trot to keep pace. He did not stop until they reached the
parking lot behind McTartan’s. He patted the handlebars of the motorcycle and
looked at Estelle, “I’m going after Copper.”

Such a tense situation, and a cliffhanger. Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteOf course. My snippets end in cliffhangers whenever possible.
DeleteSo what does he know that makes him doubt Copper? Or is something else entirely going on here?
ReplyDeleteCopper doesn't know about the aliens. Also, Toby knows the police jail isn't safe either. He's been making plans, but needed to know where Copper was going.
DeleteI'm glad he's going too. Croaker is bad news!
ReplyDelete~Joyce Scarbrough
Too true! He killed two people to escape from jail previously.
DeleteOoo I want to know the reaction to that cliffhanger!
ReplyDeleteAs Veronica says: tune in next week or grab a copy of the book!
DeleteAnd the story continues, tune in next week LOL!
ReplyDeleteExactly, although I wont' be going much further.
DeleteI hope Estelle insists on going with him.
ReplyDeleteYou're jumping ahead!
DeleteWhy? I thought he was sure Copper's going the right way. :D Good snippet, Aurora.
ReplyDeleteCopper said he was going to the police station. But he isn't. Maybe Toby guessed, but he had to escort the two girls home, or at least Diane. And, Estelle's alternate transport is tailing Copper's car.
DeleteI hope they have Copper's back. :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe. He shouldn't have driven off without backup.
DeleteNice cliffhanger. Makes you want to know more.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAh, I wonder what she is going to do now. Good hook!
ReplyDeleteWait until next week!
DeleteIs he unsure about Copper? Can't wait to find out.
ReplyDeleteAs he said "Zarnoths are sneaky."
DeleteAha! So he doesn't trust him to take Croaker to jail! Or, maybe he just doesn't trust Croaker to cooperate... Either way, smart plan to follow. I just hope it won't be too late for chaos.
ReplyDeleteOh chaos for sure!
