Welcome to another Sunday
with Weekend Writing Warriors.
Writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join
the fun and read our snippets.
I’m
continuing the scene from: Starrella
Falls, Book 2 in the Secret Supers, for a little longer. You can read the
first chapters HERE.
Background: Estelle recognizes the wanted
murderer, Croaker, and Toby knocks him out. Mark Copper offers to take Croaker
to the police station while Toby looks after Diane and Estelle. After Mark
drives off, Diane accuses him of wanting the reward for Croaker.
Note:
Toby is in good spirits since he and Estelle have patched up their differences.
They are enjoying each other’s company for the final weeks of the college
semester before they part for the summer, or possibly, forever! Ominous drum
beats and anxious wait for Book 3!

The final line was: “Ain’t
that golden!” Toby sounded amused. “Hope he don’t regret it.”
“That’s the last time I’m going
out with him,” Diane grumbled.
“Plenty of other guys at
Goldman,” Estelle consoled her friend.
“Don’t squabble over Copper,”
Toby said; “Ladies, grab hold.” He offered an arm to each of them.
“Ooh!” Diane squealed, “Best
offer I’ve had in ages.”
“Ease up,” Toby said firmly, “No
nonsense. I’ll drop you at your dorm; then, I’m driving Estelle to her home.”
Estelle was disappointed. She had
hoped to spend the evening with him, but she dared not inquire about his plans
when Diane could hear.
Of course,
they’re not finished with Croaker. Remember, Estelle’s bonded mare, Rockette, is
following Mark’s car, in her pigeon disguise. Also, Toby’s jaguar companion is
close by. The animal companions are key characters in this superhero series.

Interesting snippet, Aurora. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. More revealing of the characters interactions than action.
DeleteI have to admit that I'm a bit confused. There are so many characters that I had trouble keeping them separate. Still, it sounds like an intriguing premise. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, you may need to check the earlier snippets.
DeleteI have a feeling things aren't going to go so well for Copper, and the calm night Estelle expects is not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteOf course. She doesn't get many "calm" nights with Toby.
DeleteI don't think Estelle needs to worry about spending the evening with Tony. I don't think he's planning on taking to her home after dropping off Diane.
ReplyDeleteHe may be. Often he's overprotective of Estelle, which she hates.
DeleteHmm... is Tony going to spend the evening with Diane? Intrigued.
ReplyDeleteActually, he's giving her a rebuff when he says, "No nonsense."
DeleteLots of questions after reading this snippet. Good job.
ReplyDeleteWell, I suppose these snippets are teasers.
DeletePoor Estelle, how disappointing for her evening! But an interesting excerpt...
ReplyDeleteIt won't work out quite the way Toby is planning.
DeleteDiane seems to be flirt and poor Estelle isn't getting what she wants either. I wonder how the evening will turn out in the end.
ReplyDeleteDiane is definitely a flirt and Toby usually ignores her. He can't this evening since he's promised to escort the girls.
DeleteI'm curious to see what happens after he drops off Diane. Great snippet!
ReplyDelete~Joyce Scarbrough
Yes, it will be interesting.
DeleteInteresting snippet.
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Thanks!
DeleteI have a feeling Estelle isn't going to get much alone time with Toby at all, considering what else is going on!
ReplyDeleteThey had some time together during Spring Break a week earlier, now it's back to the fight (and classes).
DeleteLots going on here - I'm enjoying finding out more about these people!
ReplyDeleteGreat!
DeleteDiane is quite a flirt, but I bet Estelle gets the prize.
ReplyDeleteShe's already taken the "prize"
DeleteThe calm before the storm. I do wonder what will happen :3 Nice snippet!
ReplyDeleteYes, you've got the right idea.
DeleteHe's being a completely gentleman, but is Estelle happy? Of course not!
ReplyDeleteShe was hoping for some personal attention!
DeleteAt the moment Cooper seems to be out in the cold.
ReplyDeleteNot as cold as he's going to be!
DeleteGreat snippet, as usual! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI am concerned about what is going to happen with Croaker. Trouble ahead. Good snippet, Aurora. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, and thank you!
DeleteLove the way he offered an arm to both ladies. He's a bit cocky, which is like catnip to women. I can see there being some jealousy in the air. :) Fun snippet!
ReplyDeleteHe is very cocky, but he prefers to be ogled from a distance.
DeleteI think Estelle was wise not to inquire about Toby's plans in earshot of Diannt I don't think their ideas of spending the night together are the same.
ReplyDeleteTheir plans have changed since they discovered Croaker.
DeleteAt least he is dropping of Diane first so maybe there is a way for Estelle to stick around.
ReplyDeleteShe's sticking with Toby as long as she can.
DeleteInteresting to read what happens after they drop of Diane. Nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteExcitement builds!
DeleteGood snippet, Aurora!
ReplyDeleteThanks. The next one is already up.
DeleteOr perhaps him saying he's dropping Estelle at her home is just a cover so Dianne won't know they spend the night together or not.
ReplyDeletePossibly.
