Main Characters in my
new Secret Supers Series
Plus, a sample
of associated characters. I had fun
creating their names.
Estelle
Wright / Super Starrella is paired with the winged mare, Rockette.
Daughter of Laura and Steven Wright
Undergraduate majoring in Biology, hopes to become a
vet
Superpower: fire (activated in an accident, or was
it?)
Toby
Ryan / Sol Tobarian has a black jaguar with wings, Growler.
Son of Sol Farleon (local clade leader) and Mir
Saflorestine (she has been missing since Toby was 12)
Graduate student in Aerospace Engineering, and pretty
good at hacking into computers.
Leader of the Jags street gang (the mysterious
Secret Supers)
Superpower: strength
Diane Stewart and Veena Chandra: Estelle’s best
friends.
Captain Mark Copper, military intelligence,
investigating Estelle.
Inspector Horace Parkins, Crime Investigation
Division, chief detective in charge of the serial killer investigation.
Trooper Pete Cassidy, young assistant for Inspector

of activating superpowers, has no superpowers and she’s mad about it.
Gecko, another superpowered human in the Jags gang
(named for his super ability), with a hawk, Fricka.

what her superpower is).
Farleon
Elders: Ursol Numion, Ursol Paliar,
and Urmir Damoria (book 2)
Villains
Mr. Sunshine / Rigel Zentor, Zarnoth villain in
books 1 & 2.
Cramer Jones / Croaker / Karockis, Zarnoth assassin
in book 2.
Setting of the Stories
The first two
books are set in and around Atalanta, my sunnier, southern version of Gotham City.
Estelle lives near my neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She and Toby are
students at one of the local universities. I add a touch of local flavor in the
place names, food, native wildlife and flora. They travel to rural farm and
villages areas not far from Atlanta, the southern end of the Appalachian
Mountains, the coast of Georgia, and a gator-infested swamp in southern Georgia.
In book 3
(WIP), the setting is Oxenford University in England (you know - the place with
a 1000 years of academic history), with side trips to London, Avebury stone
circle and the south coast of Devon. Aliens and ancient magic!
Blurbs
Book
1, Super Starrella
Teen
superhero, Starrella, and her flying horse combat vicious killers in the skies
of Atalanta.
The
quiet summer before her freshman year turns frighteningly weird after Estelle
Wright trespasses onto an Army base. Blown into the air and knocked
unconscious, she wakes with a nascent superpower. Not to mention a winged horse
with a snarky attitude and a mind of her own.
Back
home in Atalanta, a serial killer is targeting the students at Goldman
University. Before long she must juggle college classes with sneaking out of
the house after dark to battle alien monsters. Estelle’s life is in danger, but
who can she trust: handsome Captain Copper from military intelligence, or hunky
Toby, the tough gangster with a motorbike? Both men have secret agendas, but
falling in love is not in their plans.

Book
2, Starrella Falls
Super
Starrella faces a bigger challenge and Toby is tangled in alien politics
College
freshman Estelle Wright has it all: a superpower, a flying horse, and a hunky
boyfriend. All is threatened when her old enemy swears revenge, ruthless killers
target Atalanta, and Toby is under pressure to dump her. But, Estelle’s knack
of finding trouble scuttles his plans. Their lives are at stake and they face
agonizing decisions. The wrong choice will lead to disaster.

I marvel at the names you've created for your characters. This sounds like an interesting series. Looking forward to reading the 1st book.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it! I've revealed details in this post that won't appear until Book 3!
ReplyDeleteI love super heroes!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteLOL. I enjoyed your list of characters, especially considering KM Fawcett's post, in which she bemoaned not having names for her book and some of the characters.
ReplyDeleteYes, I noticed. Science fiction writers often need a large repertoire of names for places, characters, novel tools etc.
DeleteI'll have to check out the new series, because I loved Grand Master's Pawn. Looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! This one is set in contemporary Atlanta and has "Earth aliens"
DeleteAlways good to get caught up on the details of your 'world'!
ReplyDeleteSome of the details at least!
DeleteYou had me at winged mare!
ReplyDeleteYes, she's snarky too!
DeleteThis looks like a fun series. And yes, I was thinking the same thing about names Ed said above. (I finally figured mine out by the way, so yay!) Yours are great names. And I love the idea of a jaguar with wings!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad you found good names. It can be tough.
