Hop on! Snippet from Starrella Falls for #WeWriWa #Superheroes

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets.

I’m continuing the scene from: Starrella Falls, Book 2 in the Secret Supers, until the end of this chapter. Next weekend, I’ll begin to post snippets from Book 3. You can read the first chapters of Starrella Falls HERE.
My apologies if I am late reading your snippets since I’ll be visiting my son in Colorado over the weekend.

Background: Estelle and Toby are superheroes and their telepathic animal partners are Rockette, the flying mare, and Growler, the jaguar.
Toby knocks out the wanted murderer, Croaker, and Mark Copper offers to take Croaker to the police station. Instead, Estelle and Toby discover Mark is driving north, probably to Dupree Air Base. Standing by his motorcycle, Toby calls his friend and speaks in the alien language, Farli.

When the conversation ended, Toby replaced the phone in his pocket and gazed at Estelle. “We’re in luck tonight. A delegation from the Enclave is visiting Sol Farleon at the Clinic. The sentinels will take charge of Croaker. Can’t have a Zarnoth probed by the army.”
“They’ll have to catch Croaker first,” she said.
He shook his head. “Not them, us. Hop on, we’ll capture him.”

The chapter ends here, as do my snippets from this book, at least for now. You’ll have to buy the book, or wait in case I set it free, to find out what happens next about Croaker, Mark Copper and our two main characters.
On to Book 3! At 50,000 words & crazy editing.

  20. This has me wondering if Croaker is an escape artist and slippery to hold. Great hook.

    1. He is. Earlier in the story, he escaped from jail and killed a couple of people. That's why Toby and Estelle are worried.
