Don't Take Any Chances! Snippet from Starrella Falls for #WeWriWa #Supergirl + FREE ebooks

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors. Writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets.

I’m continuing the scene from: Starrella Falls, Book 2 in the Secret Supers, until the end of this chapter. Then, I’ll begin to post snippets from Book 3. You can read the first chapters of Starrella Falls HERE.

Background: Estelle and Toby are superheroes and their telepathic animal partners are Rockette, the flying mare, and Growler, the jaguar.
Toby knocks out the wanted murderer, Croaker, and Mark Copper offers to take Croaker to the police station. Instead, Estelle and Toby discover Mark is driving north, probably to Dupree Air Base.
The last line, spoken by Toby, was: “I’m going after Copper.”
With apologies for creative punctuation to fit the sentence limit.

Flinging her arms around him, Estelle cried, “Don’t take any chances, Toby! Take me with you; I don’t want to lose you.”
“Don’t fuss; I’ll be on guard. Bigger headache too; have to chat with my pal, Joth. Can’t have the army discovering Croaker’s an alien; would start an uproar. Reckon it ain’t good for Farleons or Zarnoths.”
Pulling out his phone, Toby drawled, “Goin’ to call him now.” Touching the screen, he grunted a greeting. After a pause while he listened, he spoke rapidly in a strange language. Farli, Estelle presumed, since she did not understand a word.

Now, Estelle has good reason to be worried. Only a week earlier, she rescued Toby after he was captured by Croaker’s henchmen. You try rescuing a hunky guy who can’t walk!

  4. Don't fuss. I'll be on guard - yea - yea - yea. He's about to get into trouble and she's going to have to get him out - which makes for a great story :-) Tweeted.

  7. I agree he should take her with him.

(And, yes, the army discovering that Croaker's an alien would not be a good thing. I still don't trust that that's where Mark is taking him, though.)

  8. I think Estelle is right to be worried. What trouble is Toby going to get into next?

    1. Maybe not as much as the trouble she rescued him from.

  11. He's too overconfident--which is probably why he needs a babysitter! LOL! She better keep an eye on him.

  17. I think he better play on the safe side and let her come along. Rockette is still following, right? She can make an excuse to come.

  18. I think Toby is a bit too reckless.
